There are many reasons why you might want to make a phone call using a hidden number. Whatever your mobile, you can make your number private when making a call. In addition, although many applications promise to hide your phone number, you should know that it is not even necessary to resort to a third-party app to be able to do so since all mobiles include this option.

You should know, of course, that in some countries like Spain, it is not allowed to make commercial calls with a hidden number, so you better think twice if you have a company and you are thinking of using this technique to communicate with your clients. On the other hand, it can be useful when calling a company to prevent our number from being stored in its database.

How do calls with a hidden number work?

Something that not everyone knows is that the process of hiding our telephone number when calling falls into the hands of the telephone operator with whom we have contracted our line.

More specifically, when we have activated this service, the telephone operator does not provide the receiver with the telephone number of the caller. Thus, the identifier “Hidden number” or “Private number” will appear on your screen.

How to call with a hidden number on Android

Now that it is clear how this type of call works, it is enough to activate the option that allows us to make our number appear as private or put it as a private number. On Android, there are two ways to do it:

Hide phone number from settings

Although the process will be different depending on the software your terminal uses, in general, the steps are similar. To make your number private through the settings, you have to do the following:

• Open your mobile phone app
• Access the settings menu, and enter the section “Additional settings.”
• Select the option Caller ID or similar, and check the option “Hide number.”

This way, the next time you make a call, your phone number will not be shared with the recipient. If you want to show the number, you must follow the same steps above and check the “Show number” option.

Call with a hidden number using a code.

However, there is an even faster alternative to hide your number before making a call, and it works on both Android and iOS. This consists of writing the prefix # 31 # before the phone number you want to call. For example, if you want to call 666777888, you have to dial the following before calling:

#31#666777888

In this way, you will not have to go around activating and deactivating the option to hide the number, but only your number will be hidden in the calls in which you include the prefix. Bear in mind, of course, that this code works in Spain, but not in other countries, and that it may not work with all telephone operators.
