The weekend is to play for free. We don’t know if that’s set in stone somewhere, but it’s not a bad idea. We have made a selection of games that you can access completely free of charge or for the modest price of a monthly subscription, and hey, don’t worry about a thing (until Monday, of course, but that’s another story).
Mafia
This classic of criminal action that was the subject of a remake a couple of years ago celebrates its twenty years in circulation. You can access it for free on Steam and look back on Tommy Angelo’s rise through the most dangerous circles of crime in the city of Lost Heaven during the dangerous thirties. First a driver, then a gangster, and all with a clean shootout.
Rainbow six siege
The multiplayer of UbiSoft’s tactical action title is freely accessible to play on both PC and Playstation and Stadia. It can be accessed via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect and allows you to keep any progress you make between now and September 8 in 5v5 matches if you later purchase the game.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition
The usual weekly games from the Epic Game Store are especially interesting this week. Here is the third and final installment of this initiation trilogy of Lara Croft where she finally becomes the character we have always known. Technically impressive, it’s an absorbing adventure that, in its Definitive Edition, includes seven challenge tombs, as well as downloadable weapons, outfits, and abilities.
Submerged: Hidden Depths
In a more modest vein, but also with the exploration of exotic places as a starting point, this other free game this week on the Epic Games Store proposes to investigate semi-submerged ruins, but in a calmer and less risky environment. Even so, we will have to deal with colossal creatures and a strange curse that threatens the protagonists.
Immortal Redneck
This title from the Spanish Crema Games arrives at the GOG store in the last days of its apocalyptic period of summer sales. It is a pure action title that pays tribute to the long-awaited first-person action games of the nineties. The game is seasoned with drops of roguelike, and although we will have to shoot our way through the pyramids of Giza, we will also be able to choose between nine classes with their corresponding spell trees and 50 customizable weapons with hundreds of modifiers at our disposal.
… And ‘Assassin’s Creed Origins and other games on Prime Gaming
Finally, Amazon Prime subscribers have access to all Prime Gaming games, which this week include such notorious free titles as ‘Assassin’s Creed: Origins’, one of the best in the series, ‘Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor’ (taking advantage of the fact that Amazon is opening with ‘ The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power ‘) and others just as juicy as the great classic ‘The Dig’.
