Instagram already allows anyone to create their own filters for Stories: this is how it is done

After a trial period that began after the last edition of the Facebook F8 developer conference, the tool Spark AR Studio allows anyone to start creating their filters for Stories today. Only select creators could develop their own augmented reality visual effects until now.

According to the company, more than 1 billion people worldwide have already used filters based on augmented reality created from Spark AR technology. With the opening of this public beta, it is expected that more and more users of the platform will experiment with this filter creation study.

To do this, the Spark AR official page offers all the necessary tools for free to start creating visual effects. Facebook also provides a mobile application, Spark AR Player, which allows you to view the results before publishing your creations on the platform. Those intending to work with this technology will also find several detailed guides and tutorials to help them create.

How to start creating your filters and effects in augmented reality for Instagram Stories

Once the tool has been downloaded and installed on our computer –compatible with both Windows and macOS–, SparkAR Studio offers us an advanced editor to work with dynamic layers, predefined graphic elements, and various templates to use as a basis for our filters. And masks.

If you need inspiration, Facebook offers a page full of examples of skins created with Spark AR to draw some ideas. Videos are also included with the stories of some of the artists who, during these first months, have collaborated with the company to create the first filters that came to Instagram Stories.

The opening of this tool to the public is undoubtedly an exciting initiative, which will most likely encourage artists and designers from all over the world to share their creations with a community of more than one billion users around the world, thus adding variety to the already extensive catalog of effects available on the social network.
