In March, Xiaomi presented a new consignment of Redmi mobiles corresponding to the Note range. Now the Redmi Note 9 series is fully launched globally by adding new configurations, and alongside the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 comes its big brother, the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro.
This last name usually entails a more advanced and complete configuration. In this case, we will see a somewhat more powerful processor and differences in the cameras, being a hybrid between the Note 9 and the Redmi Note 9S but remaining the most powerful. A larger screen that “eats” the front camera
The one that is the direct heir of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro by nomenclature and DNA this time integrates a somewhat larger screen, being a 6.67-inch IPS panel with FullHD + resolution. It is slightly bulkier, although the screen is embedded in such a way that it occupies almost the entire surface of the front with thin bezels and the camera inserted with a hole.
This is one of the main design changes from the Redmi Note 8 Pro and the rear. In addition to new and bright colors (especially “tropical green”), the module is now rectangular and is in the center, standing out quite a bit in appearance, although in the green finish, we see that it is square and leaves the flash out.
That is why it seems to share more genes with the Redmi Note 9S; in fact, it even maintains that side fingerprint reader. It has Gorilla Glass 5 both on the back and front, and the screen has the TÜV Rheinland certification for reducing blue light.
A great battery and NFC
Inside this new Pro in the Xiaomi Redmi, we see the Snapdragon 720G processor, the same as the Redmi 9S, but with options of 4 or 6 GB of RAM. This memory will go hand in hand with different storage, having models with 4 and 64 GB and 6 GB and 128 GB, both with the possibility of expanding with microSD up to 512 GB.
Of course, the Redmi 9 Pro comes with NFC, a 3.5-millimeter jack, and maintains what we have seen in mobiles in this range: a large battery of more than 5,000 mAh, specifically 5,020 mAh. In this case, the fast charge it supports is 30W, thus differentiating it from the base model (without “pro”) and including the 33W charger in the pack.
It shows, it feels, the four cameras are present.
Maintaining the symmetry and starring in the back is that prominent camera module that integrates the flash. Following in the wake of the Redmi 8 Pro within the update, the configuration of sensors and lenses that we see in this new Redmi 9 Pro is as follows:
- 64-megapixel sensor (1/1.72 inches, 0.8 μm or 1.6 μm pixels grouped with pixel-binning) with 6P lens with f/1.89 aperture and AF.
- 8-megapixel sensor (1.12 μm pixels) with 5P ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and 119-degree field.
- 5-megapixel sensor with a macro lens (2 cm – 10 cm)
- 2-megapixel sensor for depth analysis.
Thus, the megapixels are maintained, and the combination of four cameras that includes a macro lens and one for depth is chosen, regardless of telephoto lenses, which we see in many current mid-range mobiles. The front camera integrates a 16-megapixel sensor (1 μm pixels) with a lens with f/2.48 aperture, having facial recognition mediated by artificial intelligence.
Price and availability of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro
With this launch it has been confirmed that the most complete phone of the Redmi Note 9 arrives in Spain, for these starting prices according to the configuration:
- Version with 4 GB and 64 GB: 269 euros
- Version with 6 GB and 128 GB: 299 euros
The pre-sale begins on May 27 in the Mi and Amazon stores, with the sale starting on June 1. There will be an introductory offer with a price of 249 euros, as confirmed by Xiaomi.
