Not half a year has passed since the realme 6 Pro came true, but the new realme 7 Pro is here.
The young Chinese company maintains its philosophy of early renovations, and this time the latest edition of its mid-range reference model is pulled out of its sleeve. A model that we have already been able to test and that – sorry for the spoiler – not only incorporates improvements concerning the realme 6 Pro. Of course, as usual in realme it maintains an attractive price.

The best of the realme 7 Pro
A perfect AMOLED screen
This year, realme bets on AMOLED technology in the model top of its series of mid-range devices. And it’s a wise decision … in part.
Because while it is a perfect screen in terms of sharpness, brightness levels, and viewing angles, we have to return to the refresh rate of 60 Hz, a drop of 30 Hz compared to the realme 6 Pro and the realme 7.
Those who have not yet had the opportunity to test a terminal whose panel updates to a frequency greater than 60 hertz probably will not miss this extra fluency. However, it is undoubtedly one of the significant shortcomings of this terminal.
The fact of using an AMOLED panel, in addition, brings with it some advantages such as the possibility of using the Always-on Display mode -which, by the way, is one of the most customizable that I have tried so far-, or having a fingerprint reader under the screen that, yes, is not as accurate or fast as the capacitive reader present in the last generation model.
Excellent performance, record-breaking autonomy
There are no changes this year when it comes to the processor. Again, the Snapdragon 720G is the brain that gives life to the device, now equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in both cases.
The device’s overall performance is excellent, and it doesn’t flinch when it comes to running some of the heaviest titles out there, like the popular Genshin Impact.
We do find a certain lag on particular occasions. However, I fear that the origin is in the software that gives life to the device more than in its technical section: it is not the first time that software that is not up to par has penalized an instrument of the brand.
The significant advance of this year is found in the drums. Not because of its capacity, but with 4,500 mAh, we continue to obtain excellent results, quickly reaching six or up to 7 hours of the screen during the day, but about its loading speed.
And the 65W SuperDart technology is simply impressive. In just 20 minutes, the device goes from 0 to over 50% of the battery, and in just over 35 minutes, the terminal becomes fully charged. To this day, no mobile in this segment can stand up to the realme 7 Pro in that sense.
Versatile and powerful rear camera
The differences concerning the previous model in the photographic field are notable. And, unfortunately, not all changes are for the better.
The 64-megapixel primary sensor can generate very bright, well-detailed, and sharp captures. However, the focus system can suffer when it comes to keeping moving subjects in the scene in focus, and on more than one occasion, it generates blurred images.
It is also a good ultra-wide-angle, which without being able to capture images of such good quality, it is convenient in daytime scenes with a good amount of light.
But, unlike the previous model, Realme is betting this year on a dual 2-megapixel sensor, macro, and portrait, respectively, instead of a telephoto like the previous model.
Failing that, the macro sensor offers a mediocre result in most mobiles that incorporate it. And the additional camera designed to capture portraits is not essential if we compare the images captured with this mobile with those of others that lack this sensor.
The worst of the realme 7 Pro
A front camera that falls below expectations
The rear camera is good, but things change as soon as we start using the front sensor. For whatever reason, the camera tends to overexpose light backgrounds to the point of burning photos.
This defect is more noticeable when using portrait mode than when using the “normal” way. And it’s undoubtedly a shame since, if not for that problem, the portrait mode offers good blur quality and a relatively precise and natural cropping.
Realme UI still has room for improvement.
As I said in the section performance, I am afraid realme UI is the significant burden of this realme 7 Pro.
Graphics aside, realme’s customization layer can get quite heavy, especially those who prefer cleaner, less-feature-heavy interfaces.
Although realme UI has been dramatically improved over the initial versions of this software, it still inherits some of the most significant drawbacks of ColorOS, the OPPO software on which this layer is based.
Functions such as the “optimization at rest” mode, activated by default, make us find problems already classic in terminals of Chinese origin, such as notifications that arrive late or do not come or background applications that are closed despite having plenty of RAM to keep them open.
The also be improved organization of the settings menus can. An example is the option to activate navigation by gestures, which for some reason is hidden under a section in the settings called “Practical tools,” despite being a native function of the system and not a “tool” as such.
But not everything is terrible, far from it. On a day-to-day basis, realme UI offers a relatively fast and fluid operation, and in the version that runs this model, we find fewer pre-installed apps than usual. In addition, the design – although it is not one of my favorites – is entirely consistent except for small details that still need to be polished.
Realme 7 Pro, opinion and final thoughts from Andro4all
The realme 7 Pro is proof that renewals this early are almost always expendable. If this mobile had come under the name of realme 6T Pro, or similar, the fact of having a faster charging system would make it fit better within the realme catalog.
But he wanted this to be the model on which the weight of rests surpassing its predecessor. The reality is that in most aspects, it does not succeed. Still, we face a terminal behind the realme six pros in factors such as photographic versatility, screen fluidity, or a slower and less accurate fingerprint reader.
It is not that it is a sinister motive, far from it. It simply is not up to par, considering that the competition is pushing harder than ever and that the realme 6 Pro had set the bar very high.
Realme 7 Pro price and where to buy
The realme 7 Pro is already in Spain. It can be purchased from October 13 through the official store of the brand and other authorized distributors.
Its price starts from 299 euros in its only configuration with 8 GB of RAM.

Conclusions | By renewing a mobile just a few months after presenting its predecessor, you run the risk of ending up creating a mobile that is incapable of justifying a generation change so early. And that is just the case with the realme 7 Pro, an excellent mid-range mobile whose novelties are insufficient compared to the previous model. |
